OVER THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD

ACRYLIC ON CANVAS

40 INCH (H) X 30 INCH (W) X 2 INCH (D)

(GALLERY WRAPPED which are designed to be displayed without a frame)

This painting I created based upon my own personal experience growing up in a small town and moving to the big city. The lights, energy and noise are equally addictive in beauty to me as is the architecture and landscape, one which I visually create in my paintings. The possibilities a city holds, the excitement it brings, is always the glimmer in my eyes.  This painting is my representation of moving on to something “bigger”, the excitement for the dream. The title seemed fitting for a Kansas girls dream-- where in Kansas, one thing is definite, there will be a reference to the WIZARD OF OZ when traveling outside the state.  After research I found the author, L. Frank Baum's, reason behind the statement “follow the yellow brick road”, was the idea of people immigrating to America for a “better life” because the “roads paved with gold” here in the USA. I find similarity in this with my own experiences to move from a small town to the city paved in gold.
