How one single gesture can become a record, a voice, a reminder. I was inspired by the tally marks on my husband’s hat during his deployment in the Middle East—each one a quiet measure of time, presence, and perseverance. That simple repetition stayed with me.

In this work, I use repeated marks almost like a visual mantra, reflecting on endurance, reflection, and our instinct to create order in the face of emotional or physical uncertainty. The layering of paint and counting gestures holds both intimacy and vastness—documenting what feels personal, yet universally human.
