BLACK SHEEP RISING
ACRYLIC, PAPIER MACHE', AND INK ON CANVAS
36 INCH (H) X 36 INCH (W) X 4 INCH (D) (GALLERY WRAPPED)
CONCEPT: Every family has one, the Black Sheep, the one who doesn’t hide their true self, the one who doesn’t wait for family or friends’ approval. The one who goes against the family traditions and makes their own way. Many years ago, the black sheep in the herd was unwanted, due to having wool that cannot be dyed, now the black sheep is a rarity that is in high demand, due to the authentic look of its black wool.
INSPIRATION: A poem by an unknown author, “I’ve been called rebellious, wrong, a black sheep, different…because I refuse to be like everyone else. I stand on my beliefs.” I, too, am the black sheep and I rise to stand on my own.
