ABOUT THE COLLECTION
BENEATH THE SURFACE
2026
Beneath the Surface explores the thoughts, emotions, memories, and moments we carry quietly within us—the things that may not be visible from the outside but continue to influence how we feel, respond, and move forward.
The process of creating each painting reflects this idea of layering. Paint is built up, covered, scraped back, and partially erased, allowing fragments of earlier decisions to remain. Marks overlap, textures shift, and areas that once felt resolved are disrupted and reworked. Nothing completely disappears. What came before becomes part of what follows, much like the things we carry with us continue to leave their imprint.
The color palette extends this idea through the natural layers that surround us—the depth of the ocean, the openness of the sky, and the shifting tones and textures of the land. Blues, softened neutrals, earth tones, and atmospheric variations move through the collection, creating a sense of depth and transition. These natural references become another expression of what exists beneath a surface, where each layer reveals something different depending on how deeply we look.
At the heart of the collection is the idea that not everything we carry needs to be explained, fixed, or neatly resolved. Some feelings linger. Some memories return unexpectedly. Some parts of our lives simply become woven into who we are, quietly influencing us long after the moment itself has passed.
The paintings allow space for uncertainty, reflection, rest, and the gradual understanding that sometimes simply acknowledging what is there can be enough. Within these layered surfaces the quiet recognition that what came before does not simply disappear; it becomes part of what remains.
