Stay the Course—The Power of Staying on Task

Recently, a massive weight lifted from my shoulders—a responsibility I’d carried for a few years. With it came the clarity and conviction to focus fully on my creative career, to nurture my physical and emotional well-being, and to finally give myself the time I’ve long needed. It felt right. It is right.

But staying on task? That’s where it gets tricky.

Every day, I find myself poking around new ideas—another business venture, a random class, a tempting opportunity that has nothing to do with the path I intentionally chose. These distractions sparkle like shiny silver buttons, each one whispering, “Just this one thing…” and suddenly I’m five tabs deep in a plan I never meant to make.

I’m learning that if I don’t stay true to my current path, I’ll scatter my energy and lose the momentum I worked so hard to build. The focus I need won’t magically appear—it’s something I must protect. That means putting on blinders, saying no more often, and trusting that the next door will open when I’ve finished walking through this one.

This chapter matters. It deserves my full presence. Growth takes time, consistency, and the courage to not run toward every shiny object that waves hello. Stay the course. The next path will come into focus only after this one is fully walked.

And yes, I remind myself of this daily. Often out loud. Usually with a latte in hand.

Note to self: You're not allowed to start another “fun side thing” just because you had one productive hour. Sit down. Stay the course.
